New Store

When Will the Siler City Cook Out Open?

Cook Out has not published an opening date. Its store locator lists 1513 E 11th Street, Siler City, NC 27344 only as “coming soon” (checked October 2026). Cook Out usually does not announce openings far ahead; new stores tend to appear as open on the locator once the drive-thru starts serving.

Where it is: E 11th Street on the east side of Siler City, about 1.3 miles from the center of town.

What to expect: Most newer Cook Outs follow the chain’s standard format: a double drive-thru, a walk-up window and outdoor tables, with no indoor dining room. The menu and tray pricing match the chain’s other North Carolina stores.

Why it matters: Chatham County currently has no open Cook Out. Western Chatham drivers now make 40- to 60-minute round trips to Asheboro or Sanford, and this store would cut that to minutes.

We will update this page and the store directory once the locator shows the Siler City store as open. Until then, treat any claim of exact opening dates or hours for this location with caution.

Road Guide

What Is the Best Route From Siler City to Each Cook Out?

Siler City sits at the crossing of US 64 and US 421, and those two highways lead to most of the nearby Cook Outs. Here is how each drive works.

To Asheboro (544 E. Dixie Dr)

Take US 64 west out of Siler City past Ramseur and Franklinville into Randolph County. In Asheboro, US 64 is called Dixie Drive, and the Cook Out is on the east side of town near the I-73/74 interchange, so you reach it before downtown. This is the simplest drive and the one most locals make.

To Randleman (685 W. Academy St)

Follow US 64 west to Asheboro, then take I-73/US 220 north a few exits to Randleman. It makes sense if you are continuing toward High Point or Greensboro.

To Sanford (1906 S. Horner Blvd)

Take US 421 southeast into Lee County. Horner Boulevard is Sanford’s main commercial road. This is the best route for drivers heading to US 1, Fort Bragg or the Fayetteville area.

To Graham and Burlington

Both stores are in Alamance County near I-40/85. They suit trips toward Greensboro, Durham or Raleigh on the interstate. Graham’s store is on S. Main St near exit 147, and Burlington’s is on Huffman Mill Rd near exit 141.

Tip: Late at night, watch for deer on US 64 and US 421 in rural Chatham and Randolph counties. They are common on both roads.

Late-Night Food

Who Needs a Late-Night Cook Out in Siler City?

Siler City runs on shift work, and a store open until 3 or 4 AM fills a real gap; most local restaurants close by late evening. These are the groups the E 11th St store is most likely to serve once it opens:

Poultry and plant workers Food processing and manufacturing are major Siler City employers, and many run evening and overnight shifts. A drive-thru open after midnight suits a shift change.

Chatham Hospital UNC Health’s Chatham Hospital is in Siler City. Nurses and staff coming off late shifts have very few food options in town after 10 PM.

NC Zoo visitors The North Carolina Zoo is just south of Asheboro, off US 64 and I-73/74. Zoo-goers driving home east on US 64 pass the Asheboro Cook Out on E. Dixie Dr.

US 64 and US 421 travelers Two US highways cross in Siler City, so truckers and through-travelers between the Triangle, the Triad and Sanford pass through town at all hours.

Ordering Guide

What Will Cook Out Cost in Siler City?

Expect the same prices as other central North Carolina stores: a Cookout Tray (entree, two sides and a drink) for about $7.39 to $7.99. Prices vary slightly by store.

First-timer tip: Order a Big Double Tray “Cook Out Style” (chili, slaw, onions and mustard) with hush puppies and a cheese quesadilla, plus a Cheerwine or a milkshake. Cook Out started in Greensboro, about an hour north, in 1989, founded by Morris Reaves.
  • Cookout Tray: about $7.39–$7.99
  • Jr. Tray: from about $5.29
  • Milkshakes: about $3.99, with 40+ flavors
  • Popular sides: hush puppies, onion rings, fries, chili, slaw, corn dog, quesadilla
  • Drinks: soft drinks, sweet tea, Cheerwine and floats

Until the local store opens, a few habits help on the long drive:

  • Order for the whole household. With a 25- to 30-minute drive each way, it is worth bringing several trays home.
  • Choose sides that travel. Hush puppies, onion rings and quesadillas hold up better than fries.
  • Pay any way. Cash and cards are both accepted.

Local Context

How Will Cook Out Fit Into Siler City’s Food Scene?

Siler City already has strong local food, especially taquerias and Latin American restaurants, but it has had almost nothing open after midnight. Cook Out will compete mostly on late hours and price rather than on cuisine.

Siler City has one of the largest Latino communities in North Carolina, and downtown and the US 64 corridor have many family-run taquerias, panaderias and tiendas. They are some of the best food values in the region, and most close in the evening. Southern diners, barbecue spots and the usual fast-food chains round out the scene.

Siler City also has a small piece of TV history: Frances Bavier, who played Aunt Bee on The Andy Griffith Show, retired here, and she is buried in Siler City. A town that feels like Mayberry is a fitting home for a burger-and-milkshake drive-thru.
