Georgia Quick Answer

How Many Cook Out Locations Are in Georgia?

Georgia has 46 Cook Out restaurants, according to Cook Out’s own store locator in October 2026. ScrapeHero’s location report ranks Georgia as the chain’s third-largest state, behind North Carolina and South Carolina and just ahead of Tennessee and Virginia. The restaurants are spread across 36 Georgia cities and towns, so most Georgians living along I-75, I-85, I-16, I-20 or I-95 are within a short drive of one.

The Georgia network is built around three types of market: metro Atlanta (13 stores, including Atlanta, Marietta, Kennesaw, Alpharetta, Tucker and McDonough), college towns (Athens, Statesboro, Valdosta, Milledgeville, Carrollton, Macon and Augusta) and interstate cities where drive-thru traffic is heavy (Dalton, Calhoun, Perry, Cordele, Tifton, Pooler and Kingsland). Every Georgia location serves the same Cook Out menu as the chain’s home state of North Carolina: char-grilled burgers, Carolina-style BBQ, hot dogs, chicken, quesadillas, trays and 40+ hand-spun milkshake flavors.

1. Metro Atlanta β€” 13 Cook Out locations

Metro Atlanta has the biggest cluster of Cook Out restaurants in Georgia: three inside the city limits and ten more across Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb, Gwinnett, Clayton and Henry counties. In town, Cook Out sits on Moreland Avenue in East Atlanta just off I-20, in the former Zesto Drive-In building on Ponce de Leon Avenue in the Old Fourth Ward, and on Northside Drive near Georgia Tech. See the Cook Out Atlanta guide for more on the city stores.

On the east side, Tucker (Hugh Howell Rd), Lithonia (Panola Rd) and Snellville (Scenic Hwy) serve DeKalb and Gwinnett. South of the city, Morrow, Riverdale and McDonough cover Clayton and Henry counties along I-75. Cobb County has two Marietta stores plus Kennesaw near Kennesaw State, and Alpharetta covers north Fulton along GA-400.

2. North & Northwest Georgia β€” 7 Cook Out locations

In Hall County, Cook Out has a store on Jesse Jewell Parkway in Gainesville and a second off I-985 on Mundy Mill Road in Oakwood. Winder serves Barrow County between Atlanta and Athens. Along I-75 in northwest Georgia, Cook Out serves Calhoun and Dalton, the carpet capital of the world. Rome is on Martha Berry Boulevard (US-27), the road out to Berry College.

Fort Oglethorpe is on Battlefield Parkway, about 10 miles south of downtown Chattanooga, so it pairs with the Cook Out Chattanooga guide across the Tennessee line.

3. West Georgia β€” 3 Cook Out locations

West Georgia’s three Cook Out restaurants run down the Alabama line. Carrollton serves the University of West Georgia, LaGrange sits off I-85 on Commerce Avenue, and Columbus, Georgia’s second-largest city, has a store on Manchester Expressway serving Columbus State University and Fort Benning.

4. Athens & Augusta β€” 6 Cook Out locations

Athens and Augusta were two of Cook Out’s first Georgia markets, both opening in fall 2013. Athens has two stores: Jordan Drive at Epps Bridge Parkway and West Broad Street, the closest one to the University of Georgia campus. Augusta has four, more than any other Georgia city. Walton Way was the first, opening in September 2013 near Augusta University’s Summerville campus. The others are on Washington Road near Augusta National, Jimmie Dyess Parkway off I-20 toward Fort Gordon, and Peach Orchard Road in south Augusta. Augusta sits on the Savannah River, so many customers also drive in from South Carolina.

5. Middle Georgia β€” 6 Cook Out locations

Middle Georgia’s Cook Out restaurants serve I-75 travelers, college students and military families. Macon has two stores: Tom Hill Sr. Boulevard on the north side near I-75 and Brookhaven Road on the west side. Warner Robins, home of Robins Air Force Base, has stores on Russell Parkway and Watson Boulevard, and Perry, home of the Georgia National Fairgrounds, is just south on Sam Nunn Boulevard. Milledgeville serves Georgia College & State University.

6. South Georgia β€” 4 Cook Out locations

South Georgia’s Cook Out restaurants line the I-75 drive to Florida. Cordele (East 16th Ave) is a stop near Lake Blackshear, Tifton sits on US-82 by Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, and Albany, home of Albany State University, has a store on North Slappey Boulevard. Valdosta, the last Georgia Cook Out before the Florida line, serves Valdosta State University. The Cook Out Tallahassee guide covers the closest Florida market.

7. Coastal Georgia & Statesboro β€” 7 Cook Out locations

Inland, Statesboro‘s Fair Road store by Georgia Southern University opened in July 2013 as Cook Out’s first Georgia restaurant. On the coast, Pooler is near the I-95 and I-16 interchange and Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport. Savannah has two stores, Abercorn Street on the south side and Skidaway Road near midtown. Hinesville serves Fort Stewart, Brunswick serves the Golden Isles, and Kingsland on Crown Pointe Parkway is the last Georgia Cook Out on I-95 before Florida.

Atlanta Answer

Where Is Cook Out in Atlanta?

Inside the city of Atlanta, Cook Out has restaurants on Moreland Avenue, Ponce de Leon Avenue and Northside Drive. The Moreland Avenue store at 403 Moreland Ave in East Atlanta, right off I-20, was announced in 2013 as Cook Out’s first location inside the Perimeter and replaced a former Hooks Seafood & Chicken building. The Ponce de Leon Avenue location took over the Zesto Drive-In building in the Old Fourth Ward in 2014, after Zesto had served burgers and shakes there for about 60 years.

For suburban Atlanta, the closest Cook Out depends on your side of town: Marietta and Kennesaw to the northwest (I-75), Alpharetta to the north (GA-400), Tucker, Lithonia and Snellville to the east, and Morrow, Riverdale and McDonough to the south. Every metro store’s address and directions link is in the Metro Atlanta list above. The Atlanta Cook Out page has more detail on the city, and the Cook Out restaurant finder covers locations in other states.

Georgia Timeline

When Did Cook Out Come to Georgia?

Cook Out was founded in Greensboro, North Carolina, in 1989 by Morris Reaves and expanded into Georgia in 2013, 24 years later. Georgia grew quickly into one of the chain’s most important states.

July 2013, Statesboro: Cook Out’s first Georgia restaurant opened on Fair Road near Georgia Southern University. Statesboro is also the city where Zaxby’s was founded in 1990, so the first Georgia Cook Out landed in a town that already knew chicken-and-burger competition.

September 2013, Augusta: the Walton Way restaurant opened on the site of a former gas station, followed by a second store on Jimmie Dyess Parkway. Augusta now has four, the most of any Georgia city.

Fall 2013, Athens: the Jordan Drive restaurant at Epps Bridge Parkway brought Cook Out to the University of Georgia’s hometown.

2014, Atlanta: Cook Out entered the city with Moreland Avenue in East Atlanta and the former Zesto Drive-In on Ponce de Leon Avenue.

2017, Hall County and South Georgia: Gainesville’s Jesse Jewell Parkway store opened, Oakwood followed near I-985, and Cook Out announced Cordele on East 16th Avenue.

2026: Cook Out’s store locator lists 46 Georgia restaurants in 36 cities and towns, from Fort Oglethorpe and Dalton in the north to Kingsland, the newest stop on I-95 near the Florida line.

Georgia Ordering Guide

Cook Out Georgia Menu and Prices (2026)

Georgia Cook Out restaurants serve the same menu as every other state, so a tray in Savannah is the same as a tray in Greensboro. The best-value order is the Cookout Tray: one entree, two sides and a drink for about $7.39–$7.99 depending on the location and entree.

Popular Georgia orders include the Big Double burger Cook Out Style (chili, slaw, onions and mustard), the Carolina-style chopped BBQ sandwich or plate, Cajun chicken wraps, hushpuppies and Cajun fries as sides, and a Cheerwine, the North Carolina cherry soda many Georgians first try at Cook Out.

First-timer tip: order a Cookout Tray with a Big Double, hushpuppies and Cajun fries, and swap the drink for a milkshake for a small upcharge.
  • Cookout Tray: about $7.39–$7.99
  • Jr. Tray: from about $5.29
  • Milkshake (40+ flavors): about $3.99
  • Drinks: Cheerwine, sweet tea, Coca-Cola

How Does Cook Out Compare to Georgia Fast-Food Favorites?

Georgia is home to some of America’s best-known fast-food brands, so Cook Out competes with local heavyweights. Here is how it stacks up on the things Georgians care about most.

ChainGeorgia connectionHow Cook Out differs
